Advanced Nursery is a family business, built on the long history of a young Italian immigrant woman who arrived in Fremantle with a passion for gardening, big vision and endless energy.
Lena Agostino brought her passion for greenery with her from Italy to Perth. At age 18, she started work at Roselea Nursery. Lena then worked with Waldecks, before working day and night growing her own plants from her Innaloo backyard.
Lena and her brother Angelo started their first nursery together in 1972. She later started her own nursery in 1977 – Balcatta Garden Centre.
With an endless passion for growth, in 1995 Lena, her daughter (Emmie) and son-in-law (Peter) established Advanced Nursery in Wanneroo. Peter and Emmie have over 40 years’ experience in the nursery themselves, with Peter having headed up our landscaping services.

Lena’s dedication and love for her work had inspired WA sculptor Tony Jones to create a permanent artwork commissioned by the City of Stirling, immortalising the passion and impact Lena had on the community.
